HEMPEL’S LIGHT PRIMER 455EX

Hempel’s Light Primer 455EX is a matte, one component primer in an aerosol can. This primer prevents and repairs osmotic blistering in polyester and provides protection against general corrosion.

What is it used for?
For indoor and outdoor use above and below the waterline.

Surface preparation
Preparation:
– Always ensure that all surfaces are clean, grease-free and dry. Clean the surface with a suitable cleaning agent and sand the surface with dry sandpaper.
Untreated surface:
– It is recommended to roughen the surface for optimal adhesion. Remove dust and loose material.
Previously coated surface:
– Sand, clean and dry the surface

Application
– Cleaner: Hempel’s Pre-Clean 67602
– Cleaning equipment: Hempel’s Thinner 845 (No 5) 08451

Method:
– Activate the product.
– Spray from a distance of 20 – 30 cm from the surface.
– Apply one coat of the product at a time, until a smooth uniform surface is formed.
– Shake the aerosol can occasionally during use.
– Spray upside down when you are finished spraying, to clean the spray nozzle.
– Overcoat with the required topcoat or antifouling paint. Apply antifouling paint while the surface is still tacky.

Application conditions
– The surface must be completely clean and dry during application at a temperature above the dew point to prevent condensation.
– Do not apply in direct sunlight.
– Ensure good ventilation in enclosed spaces during application and drying.

Coverage:
– 3 m2 / 311 ml aerosol can

Overcoating time
– Minimum: 2 hours 20°C – 4 hours 10°C
– Maximum: 30 day(s) 20°C – 60 day(s) 10°C

Overcoating details
If the maximum overcoating time has been exceeded:
– Clean with fresh water and allow to dry.
– Lightly sand the surface and remove all dust before overcoating.
If the surface is contaminated with oils and contaminants:
– Clean thoroughly with a suitable cleaning agent.
– Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry.
– Lightly sand the surface and remove all dust before overcoating

Shelf life
3 years 25°C.
– Exposure to air and temperature fluctuations should be avoided.
– Avoid direct sunlight.
– Store in a well-sealed container.
– Store at the following temperatures: 5°C – 35°C
