HEMPEL’S SILIC ONE 77450

Hempel’s Silic One 77450 is a glossy, high-solid, non-stick coating that cures when exposed to humidity. Silic One is a biocide-free antifouling. The silicone-based hydrogel microlayer creates a smooth, low-friction surface. This Silic One layer prevents organisms from attaching to the hull and propeller, while the silicone polymers promote self-cleaning.

Surface preparation
Cleanliness
– Remove oil, grease and other contaminants with a suitable cleaning agent.

New build:
– Not for untreated surfaces.
– Apply Hempel’s Silic One only over Hempel’s Silic One Tiecoat.

Maintenance and repair:
– Damaged silicone surface:
If there is minor damage to the topcoat and the yellow Tiecoat (adhesion coat) is visible:
Apply 1 coat of Silic One over an area slightly larger than the damaged area. When repainting, apply 1 coat of Silic One to the entire underwater surface.

Application
– Cleaner: Hempel’s Thinner 808 08081
– Do not thin

Thinning is not permitted.
The surface temperature must be above 10°C during application and curing.

Notes
– Stir well before use.
– First application: Apply 2 coats of the product.
– Product must be applied over Hempel’s Silic One Tiecoat within a maximum of 48 hours/minimum of 8 hours at 20°C (16 hours at 10°C).
– Pour the paint into the paint tray and replace the lid. Fully immerse the roller/brush in the paint and apply using light, smooth strokes to ensure full coverage. Runs can be removed before the paint dries.
General maintenance: Clean with a dense sponge or fresh clean
water at high pressure (max. 200 bar).
– Seasonal maintenance: Clean the surface with a soft sponge and soap, rinse with clean water and allow to dry. Apply 1 coat of Hempel’s Silic One to the entire underwater surface.

Relative humidity:
– Relative humidity must be in the range of 30–85% during application.
– Relative humidity must be in the range of 30–85% during curing.

Drying conditions
– To achieve the specified drying time, it is important to maintain adequate ventilation during application, drying and curing.
– Condensation on freshly applied coating must be avoided.

Overcoating details
– If the overcoating interval between the Tiecoat and the Topcoat is exceeded, a new coat of Tiecoat must be applied.
– The surface must be clean before overcoating.

Shelf life
18 months.
Shelf life from the date of manufacture, when stored in original, unopened containers. Product quality must be rechecked after this period. Always check the best-before or expiry date on the label.
Store above 5°C, out of direct sunlight, and protect from rain and snow.
