HEMPEL’S DURA GLOSS VARNISH 02080

Hempel's Dura-Gloss Varnish is a fast-drying gloss varnish with an excellent balance between hardness and flexibility. An optimal blend of UV filters ensures greater durability, resulting in a longer-lasting professional finish. It is easy to apply and reaches its final strength within a few hours of application.

What is it used for?
For use on both new wood and previously varnished wood, indoors and outdoors, above the waterline.

Surface cleanliness
- Remove oil, grease and other contaminants with a suitable detergent.

New construction:
- Untreated surface: Sand the surface and remove all dust.
- New wood: Saturate the dry, clean surface with a suitable wood treatment product, but allow it to dry first.
- Plywood: Seal the dry, clean surface with a suitable wood sealer.
- Teak: Thoroughly degrease the surface with a suitable degreaser.

The surface must be dry and clean before application.
The moisture content of the wood must be below 16%.

Maintenance and repair
- Previously painted substrate: Sand, clean and dry the surface.
- Previously damaged varnished wood: Treatment of the wood may be necessary.

Keep thinning to an absolute minimum. The product can be applied by spraying.

Application conditions
- Prevent condensation by applying to a clean, dry surface with a temperature more than 3°C [5°F] above the dew point.
- Film formation may be adversely affected by light rain, high humidity and/or condensation during application and the following period after application: “3–4 hours, 20°C/68°F”.

- Theoretical spreading rate 19 m²/L

Relative humidity
- Relative humidity must be below 85% during drying and curing.

Notes
- Stir well before use.
- Apply the first coat thinned with the specified Hempel's Thinner: max. 20%.
- Apply a second coat thinned with product: max. 10%
- Finally, apply 3 coats of undiluted product.
- If necessary, add thinner to aid application: max. 5%.
- To achieve a smooth surface, sanding between coats is recommended (remove dust).
- Previously painted substrate: Apply 3 coats of undiluted product.

Product compatibility
- Previous coat: Recommended products are: Hempel's Wood Impreg (for new wood), Hempel's Sealer (for plywood)
- Subsequent coat: None.

Drying conditions
- To achieve the stated drying time, it is important to maintain adequate ventilation during application, drying and curing.
- Condensation on freshly applied coating must be avoided.

Overcoating details
- If the maximum overcoating interval is exceeded, the surface must be roughened to ensure good adhesion between coats.

Other notes
- The surface must be clean before overcoating.

Shelf life
Ambient temperature 25°C [77°F]
Product 60 months

Shelf life from date of manufacture when stored in the original, unopened packaging. Product quality must be checked again after this period. Storage at high temperatures may shorten the shelf life.

Storage conditions
- The product must be stored in accordance with local regulations, at 5°C [41°F], out of direct sunlight and protected from rain and snow.
