Productomschrijving
Trae Lyx Mineral Finish 2K – Ultra matte protection for mineral surfaces Mineral Finish is a high-quality, ultra matte 2-component water-based coating, specially developed for almost all mineral surfaces. This innovative coating provides durable and invisible protection, preserving the natural appearance of the surface without compromising on wear resistance and durability.
APPLICATION
Mineral Finish is used for walls, worktops, kitchen counters or other furniture finished with mineral materials, such as concrete (look), plaster, tadelakt, microcement and various other mineral finishes. Thanks to its water-resistant properties, Trae Lyx Mineral Finish 2K is also suitable for use in wet rooms, such as bathrooms and showers.
Note: We advise against using this coating on lime-containing surfaces due to a possible unwanted deepening of the colour.
PREPARATION
For an optimal result, we recommend always starting with one coat of Trae Lyx Mineral Undercoat. This is especially important for dark surfaces, where the undercoat is essential. For highly porous surfaces, we recommend applying two coats of undercoat. This prevents discolouration, reduces the absorption of the surface and ensures an even finish.
Surface preparation:
• Ensure the surface is clean, dry, porous, and free from wax and grease.
• In a wet room, check the surface for smoothness and remove sharp points by lightly sanding. Sharp points are not covered properly, which can allow water to penetrate.
• If the coating is applied over recently applied wall finishes, always follow the manufacturer's drying advice. Ensure the wall finish is fully cured before it is treated with Mineral Finish. Insufficiently cured concrete can trap moisture, leading to peeling of the paint.
• Check that the air and surface temperature is above 10°C during application and drying.
• Avoid use in high humidity (>85% RH), rainy weather or temperatures above 25°C.
• Ensure good ventilation during drying.
• Ensure the surface is clean, dry, free from grease and dust.
Important points to note:
• Always make a test piece on unknown surfaces to check if the desired result is achieved.
• For polished concrete floors, it is necessary to make the surface porous by etching, sandblasting or fine-grit shot blasting.
• When using multiple cans for one surface, mix them together first.
APPLICATION
-
Mixing the Paint:
Thoroughly stir the base paint with a stirring rod on a drill. Pour the base paint into a separate bucket to prevent spills. Shake the hardener until it is thin and liquid. Add the hardener slowly while continuing to stir. Mix the entire mixture mechanically for at least 2 minutes until it is homogeneous. Leave it for 10 minutes, then stir manually again, and the paint is ready for use. -
Pot life:
The pot life is 1 hour, meaning that after 1 hour the hardener causes the paint to no longer flow. Ensure that you only mix the amount that you can work within this time. -
Application:
• Use a brush or short-pile nylon roller for an even distribution. Ensure full coats without pooling or differences in coat thickness.
• Apply at least 3 coats; 4 coats are recommended in wet rooms.
• Coat thickness: Required wet coat thickness is 100-120 microns (approx. 50 microns dry).
• When spraying: If necessary, slightly thin the product with a maximum of 5% distilled water. Only add water after mixing both components.
Advice: When cutting in along skirting boards, use a wet-on-wet application to prevent marks. Only apply any sealant after the final coat, once it has dried for at least 24 hours. -
Consumption and coat build-up:
1 treatment with 20-40 g/m². This means that 1 litre is sufficient for one coat on a surface of 25-50 m².
For a waterproof and durable finish in bathrooms, we recommend the following coat build-up:
• Undercoat: Apply 2 coats of Trae Lyx Mineral Undercoat. This reduces the absorption of the surface and prevents discolouration.
• Finish: Apply 2 to 3 coats of Trae Lyx Mineral Finish 2K, depending on the usage of the room.
• Important: All coats must be applied fully and evenly without build-up or streaks. Avoid pooling.
• Drying time between coats: Each coat (undercoat and Mineral Finish) must dry for at least 16 hours before the next is applied.
• Ensure good ventilation during and after application to promote the drying process.
• Sealant and finishing: Only seal the bathroom after all paint coats have been applied and the final coat has dried for at least 24 hours. This guarantees a waterproof joint and prevents adhesion problems with the sealant.
• Wait at least 48 hours after the final paint coat before exposing the bathroom to moisture.
MAINTENANCE
Surfaces treated with Mineral Finish can be maintained with Trae Lyx Maintenance Product or Trae Lyx Natural Maintenance Product.
SHELF LIFE
Mineral Finish has a maximum shelf life of 1 year in a sealed container, provided it is stored in a cool, dry and frost-free environment.
DRYING TIME
Dust dry: After 30 minutes.
Recoatable: After 16-24 hours.
Fully cured: After 7 days.
Important: Protect treated surfaces from moisture and condensation for at least 48 hours.
ADVICE
• Do not work the product at temperatures lower than 10°C or higher than 25°C.
• Avoid use when the relative humidity is higher than 85%.
• Ensure good ventilation during application and drying, but avoid drafts.
