Productomschrijving
Trae Lyx Mineral Undercoat is a water-based primer specially developed for mineral substrates. This undercoat is used as a base coat for Trae Lyx Mineral Finish 2K and offers excellent adhesion while minimising colour difference and the suction effect of the substrate. Thanks to its matte finish and ease of use, the product is ideal for a wide range of applications, such as floors, walls, worktops and furniture. It is also suitable for wet rooms such as bathrooms and showers.
APPLICATION
- The product is suitable for mineral substrates such as concrete (effect), decorative plaster, microcement and various other mineral finishes.
- Application areas include floors, walls, worktops and furniture finished with mineral materials.
- The product is also suitable for use in wet rooms, such as showers.
Note: We advise against using this undercoat on lime-based substrates due to a possible unwanted deepening of the colour.
PREPARATION
- Allow new concrete to dry for 4 to 6 weeks for optimal adhesion.
- Ensure good ventilation during drying.
- If the undercoat is applied over newly applied decorative wall finishes, always follow the manufacturer's drying instructions.
- Ensure the wall finish is fully cured before it is treated with Mineral Undercoat.
- Insufficiently cured concrete or other wall finishes can trap moisture, leading to the paint peeling off.
Preparation of the substrate:
- Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, porous and free from wax or grease residues.
- The ambient temperature and the temperature of the substrate must be above 10°C during application and drying.
- Avoid working when the relative humidity is above 85%, rain is imminent or temperatures are above 25°C.
Important points to note:
- Always first make a sample on unknown substrates to check whether the desired result is achieved.
- For polished concrete floors, it is necessary to make the substrate porous by etching, sandblasting or fine shot blasting.
- When using multiple cans for a single surface, mix them together first.
APPLICATION
-
Mixing:
Stir the Trae Lyx Mineral Undercoat thoroughly before use. -
Application:
o Use a brush or roller.
o Apply the product in full, even coats. Avoid build-up and variations in coat thickness.
o For wet-on-wet application at skirting boards, ensure the roller works continuously with the brush application.
o Coat thickness: Between 100 and 120 microns wet. -
Spray application:
o The product can be applied wet-on-wet up to a maximum wet coat thickness of 120 microns.
o If necessary, the product can be thinned for spray application with a small amount of distilled water (maximum 5%). -
Recommended coats:
o At least 1 coat for regular applications.
o Apply 2 coats on highly porous substrates and dark surfaces.
DRYING
- Dust dry: After 30 minutes.
- Recoatable: After 16 hours.
- Fully cured: After 7 days.
- Protect treated surfaces from moisture or condensation for at least 48 hours.
CONSUMPTION
Theoretical yield: 8-10 m² per coat, depending on the porosity of the substrate.
SHELF LIFE
Maximum 2 years in closed packaging, provided it is stored in a cool, dry and frost-free environment.
WARNING
We advise against use on lime paint or lime-based substrates due to a possible unwanted deepening of the colour.
TOOLS
Synthetic brush with long bristles, microfibre roller (7-10 mm) or spray equipment.
Cleaning: Clean tools immediately after use with water.
